You have to have the complexion for the connection to get services at this place.

They don't run background checks it's kind of shady over there but when there's no more options left I guess it's better than homeless shelter

I stayed at safehaven for a couple months while look ing for an apartment.the good was ok, the place wasckean, but in the two months there, I was moved room to room due to bed bugs. I ended up going back to Pacific Garden Mission until my apartment was ready. They didn't have bed bugs. I left everthing a took to safehaven AT safehaven when I moved into my apartmrnt.

I love safe haven and the complete program. They helped me out very much as well as many, many others.

This organization gave me plenty of opportunities to change my life. I utilized most of them to the best of my abilities and as much as possible. I recommend A Safe Haven to those who are really trying to turn their life around. This program only works if you are willing to put in the effort.

Offers helpful services for Chicago's homeless population

I honestly liked being there in the facility...i was apart of the youth program there and when i first got there i felt welcomed...the only real problem i had was the other young kids that were there they were out of control,very ghetto and it made the staff that works there harder to work with the young kids that really wanted and needed to be there but....there was one staff member that stuck out to me the most she was professional and she truly showed that she cared about me. I also really liked the food and how they gave bus passes to us young kids. I do have to say that some of the staff were rude and ghetto and disrespectful and this is why i gave this place 3 stars.....

The resources here are amazing and if you want to pull yourself up you can and I did "some" of the staff are truly amazing I'm rating this place one star because when my girlfriend and I went through here it was very race oriented we were made to feel like we didn't belong because we weren't Africa American I was approached several times and told to get help in my own neighborhood and my girlfriend was harrassed daily by residents and security guards in a sexual nature called names like becky and snowbunny also the security guards who are supposed to protect are having sex with female residents this is horrible a lot of house cleaning needs to be done

Use to go to food pantry. Stand in line over 3 hours only to receive frozer food that once I get home I have to toss out. This is a very unfair unorganized place, plus I found out all the good foods and sweets they only give to peoples that are they favorite.

I called and was told immediately there were no beds. The gentleman I spoke with didn't even ask my circumstances. I'm 58 years old and disabled. I now have some major health problems and he couldn't take the time to give me some information. It was disparaging to someone who is both frightened and alone. Shame on you!

Great organization. They helped me when no one else did. Step by step instructions to opportunity. The help is there but you got to want it.

Very rude and unprofessional PEOPLE... I went to donate my kids toys and clothes I mean not new stuff from the store today but VERY good condition things and the people at the front desk had the nerve to tell me they only accept NEW things ok cool but you think they would have gave me more information about it so I can help out but No they just send me on my way without helping me be lazing is not cool especially when ain t no money or anything coming out your pocket

Turned down for their transitional housing at another location because I stayed in the previous location

If you are low on options, this place will keep you from freezing or starving to death. You will, however, be surrounded by irritable and ignorant people (residents as well as staff) there are also people who r trying to make the best of it while here, so i recommend you gravitate around ones that dont drain your energy when you can. This place will motivate you to find more stable housing

first of all there's bed bugs..... second off I was in the youth program and I caught a boy recording me while I was trying to sleep (were all in the same room and everyone saw). The staff thought it was a joke. Youth do all types of drugs in the bathrooms and the staff condone their behavior.

There is no excuse for the lack of professionalism. The program is a very good program in essence, but to put rude unprofessional and negligent people in place who mistreat people is inexcusable. I was coming through the food line as one of the incarcerated residents,who was working in tbe kitchen started yelling over the line tbat I was LOOKING at him and that I must be gay. I guess gay people cannot come here and receive servicees. His behavior was one thing, but to see a member of the staff laughing instead of correcting this man. The kitchen staff have no business working with the public. I have been a supervisor for thirty years and I would never allow this mistreatment to continue. It us downright negligent.

This facility provides excellent food and housing in a secure surrounding. It encourages each individual
to achieve self sufficiency and shows each individual dignity and respect.

Melissa that does day for change is unprofessional and always has an attitude. Very petty. Everybody knows that lady has a anger problem. Other than that it's a good program. I hate it when women abuse their power of authority. Very women like. And they lie about things.

Very intense & strict rules but I lost weight & became a vegetarian because the meat wasn't always cooked all the way. Better than nothing. The staff was 50/50. Some were helpful some unprofessional. I appreciate the structure but found out some shady stuff goin on that freaked me out being a single girl. I hope it helps the majority.. But always be aware & look out for yr self. God bless

I started out in the homeless program an they switched me to the parole program . An now there kicking me out because parole isn t paying for me to stay here anymore. I don t have family or friends here in Chicago so this would be the third shelter I have to go to. Just because they want to make a dollar . I ve been out of prison for 2 months. An I have to worry about again where I m gonna go; just because the greed of foundation like this. They are trying to send me to another shelter . Now I have to move again. They should ve let me in the homeless program.

I wouldn't give this place no stars the people at the front desk are ghetto and rude I guess you don't have to know how to treat people to get a security job or answer the phone who own this place they need to make better decisions on who they hire this place needs praying for GOD BLESS THEM ANY HOW.

I've been to a safe haven and I can say that this is truly an amazing organization with a central heart to serve the homeless within Chicago. No other organization is so well equipped to not only feed the homeless, but also to take them in house them, feed them, encourage them and to educate them so that they can go out into the world and become a productive contributor to society.

The Staff is incredibly professional and courteous. The facilities are clean and extremely well maintained. A safe haven is backed by not only the city, but some of the largest corporations in the city of Chicago.

Its a big lie. They dont help you they just show you how much power they have and case manager they the funny part if you give them something its mean you in good hand or save but if you dont have any wow you been ignore or bad way to talk to you and there more its fast to be kick out .i feel am going to be kick out just coz i dont have any to give .and there small box for a comment you cant even seen safe haven its business to make money from homeless and veteran and fast to lit you be a rich man from stealing from us

Do not apply to work here, they discriminate on health background and socio-economic background. Save yourself the trouble. I was a temp for 11 days when they fried me for getting COVID, yet the excuse was that I have a second job and I will be bring germs into the office.... And now they won't ship me my belongings or give me gas reimbursement if I drive out there... Thanks for adding more insult to injury.

I just got kick to the curb, welding program for 6 months and 4 welding instructor later. Basically they said " go F yourself" I didn't get a chance to take the welding test.

Saved my Life!!! You have to to willing to change and want your life to be better. This is a structure place and there are rules an regulations put into place for a reason. I did what was suggested .followed rules and now I'm I'm no longer homeless. They offer so many different things,Therapy ,Job placement .,Ged classes,Job training.Everything you need to start your life

Awesome Organization! I've been lost for 40 years. A Safe Haven got me connected with God and services to get me on a path of living right. I am so thankful for ASH, and all the employees. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

My Daughter and I live there, and we was bless , paid light and gas bill both total $1,000 each, from Felisa Hyde, we became homeless due too lack of work but a very clean place. 4 years agi

I stayed here for 4 months and from the first time I walked through those doors I said this place is evil, they give you false hope, the staff is very unprofessional and the food I wouldn't give to a dog.
