Great food, views ambiance and excellent service!!!
Great steaks and ambiance. We were however seated under what seemed like an AC duct that produced a really horrible draft. Otherwise this would have been a perfect experience
22 Bowens is by far one of the best restaurants in Newport. As a local, I dine and have drinks here often and they deliver on exceptional service and food quality, every single time. No exceptions.
Recently attended a going away ceremony for an acquaintance. The decor is lovely and very tranquil. It creates an ambiance that is inviting and seductive. The service was by far outstanding. The attention to detail was superb, the waitstaff are so professional and always there when you need them and they check on you often enough that you won't have to call for another to assist you with anything. The food was so fresh and amazing. I enjoyed smelling the prep of the food and the comments of the kitchen. The dedication these chefs have are great. The selections of wine were nice and crisp. You had a rich full flavor when drinking the recommended Riesling. I enjoyed myself thoroughly.
I loved the menu. Try the lamb! And the server was perfect. Nice and very helpful. And the place was so nice and cosy
Thank you!
Great for afternoon lunch. Awesome view and great food. Had lobster macaroni and cheese and lobster roll. Was amazing!
Excellent restaurant, in a beautiful location. You cant beat the atmosphere
Our server Michael was impeccable he made me laugh and brought out a birthday surprise for me. The food and drinks were great on all accounts.
Loved this place! The service was great, the food was delicious. We walked in it was a 2 hour wait, we went to the bar to wait it out. Within 20 minutes, the host told us there was a cancellation if we wanted a table, we lucked out. Had the bolognese & pasta, was so good! Will definitely go back if in Newport again.
Best sea good I've had in my life , would travel to New Port just for more.
Sent both meals back. Gave us a free desert, that was lame as well.
Food is hallways good and great service. Ask for Many.
This place has the best food I have ever had. Has amazing service and Shane, Patrick, Joe and Sid are the nicest be servers.
I dream about the food here. So fresh (the tuna literally got there as we sat and was in front of us in minutes). The scallops appetizer was WOAH so freaking good!! Great place to share everything since I wanted to order everything. Highly recommend for date night, celebrations, or if you just love good seafood & steaks (which I m definitely getting the next time).
Babies baptism party, excellent food and Bittton the waitress offered top notch service, hard to find both at the same location.
Being from Massachusetts, we have made multiple trips to Newport and this place was on our list to try. We scheduled a reservation a week in advance to have a meal for our anniversary getaway. After arriving at the restaurant we were behind a couple who asked to sit outside and were seated immediately. When we approached the hostess stand a gentleman (which I would assume was manager as flanked by two hostesses) looked bothered to begin with, I gave him the reservation and also asked to be seated outside. He quickly retorted with an attitude and stated that "It would be AT LEAST an hour and a half to 2 hours" (had we not had a reservation I would have expected that or beyond but we had scheduled a reservation and there is no option to select that). His tone was extremely rude and unprofessional and with that being said we will NEVER try this restaurant. We walked by around 15 minutes later and there were still at least 3 open tables outside. We left knowing that during these times with COVID, reservations are needed everywhere and that we would struggle to find a place. Luckily the Landing was able to accommodate us on short notice and I will say was much better than expected (and we saved ourselves the +$200 bill)
It saddens me to have to post this, but what was once a local favorite is becoming a place to avoid. I have been a patron of 22B for years, but ever since their new GM started about a year ago, the place has gone completely downhill.
All the longtime and best employees are quitting and moving on, all citing HIM as their reasoning. He favors women, especially young women (typical inappropriate white male) and speaks to/treats his male employees like garbage.
While dining the other day, I personally heard the man reaming out a male employee for chatting with a regular customer at the outdoor bar. The young man was in street clothes (clearly not working) and the GM actually pulled him aside to berate him for speaking to a regular/being near the bar. Are you kidding me? Do you even know how a restaurant is run? Relationships with your regulars are what keeps the numbers rising and keep them coming back.
To this horrible excuse of a GM - you are destroying what was once a wonderful establishment. Please leave, before more people decide they've had enough.
To corporate - please fire this man before you continue to lose your most loyal patrons.
Side note: the "owner" clearly likes to respond to all the reviews. Save your energy here sir, and just LEAVE.
Everything was absolutely delicious at Bowen's! From the amazing fried calamari and tuna tartar to the perfectly cooked and seasoned steak to the wonderful cookie dough torte! The service and atmosphere was also superb!
Went for the first time and the food was great. Tried the French onion soup, awesome, scallops, risotto, and mac n cheese. We did send the bread back twice as it was cold in the middle but still good. Service could have been better but the waiter seemed new. Definitely will be back.
The food was magnificent, albeit late. However, I won't deduct a star from the delay because it was on an incredibly busy night that I was here. If you can grab a table on the second floor next to the port, then that makes it all worth it. Finally, the staff was friendly and accommodating.
Not a bad steakhouse, but the prices are quite absurd. Cost almost $300 for two adults and one toddler. All-in-all, the food was tasty but by no means spectacular. We visited on a Sunday night during the NFL playoffs and the place was crowded at both the tables and bar. As far as steakhouses go, I would not recommend this place based on the correlation between cost and taste.
My husband and I had an early reservation for our Valentine's Day dinner and it was terrific! Chelsea our waitress was absolutely on point.
Dined with family last Saturday night for my wife's birthday. Kimoy, our waiter, was responsive and professional. Seafood was exceptional and beef perfectly prepared.
Since we had ordered in parallel with party of 20+, our wait for dinner was longer than expected, so Kim (manager) provided additional food to tie us over and it was much appreciated.
Great dining experience in a superb location. We will be back.
Great place for rehearsal dinner party, private rooms for groups to celebrate a special occasion. Food and service was top notch.
Food was very good! Would recommend to others. Restaurant followed COVID guidelines, waitstaff wearing masks, socially distanced tables, and QR code to view the menu.
An absolutely fabulous experience. Ask for an upper deck table and take a minute to wander through the place. The ambiance is simply intoxicating. Celebrating a birthday we had the Kobe and a Dry Aged Delmonico special and they were worth every penny.
The oysters here are incredibly fresh. You can't go wrong with ordering most of what is on their menu. I had the clear clam chowder and I thought there weren't enough clams and too many potatoes but it did taste delicious. I also had their fried seafood, nothing too special when it's fried but it definitely tastes fresh. The views on the patio is stunning. I can sit here all day :)
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with my husband. Staff is very friendly and answered all our questions. Our meal was delicious! Very surprised to see it was so busy on a Tuesday evening. Glad we had Resevations.
Great food and service. I had fish and chips made with fresh cod. Definitely will be back.
Top notch service and a beautiful setting, especially out on the deck.
I get that it was a busy night, but the manager/owner needs to not seat tables if over the kitchen's capacity. Awful food, awful service. Staff were rude and defensive when I asked about where our food was. No idea why this place has a 4.4 rating. Waited 2 hours for our food, and the steak was raw. Ruined night. Will not be back.
Great food and great service. Had a dinner party if 60 and they handled it very well. Food came out at the same time and was hot. Very hard to do with a huge party like that. Very highly recommended.
Hands down best petite fillet I've ever had. Perfect service as well. Fabio was out waiter and was very attentive. Would definitely come again.
We were very happy with our choice for lunch, as our meals were delicious, well polished, and with large portions. The kids meals start at $9.99 but they were very large, and had the options of adding soup or salad at a small additional charge. My steak and cheese grinder was over flowing with meat, and my wife's surf and turf burger was too large to finish in one sitting. The inside and patio areas were clean, well furnished, and offered nice views of the warf and harbor. Very relaxing, very enjoyable lunch.
FYI - Dont get I the Duck Cassoulet, $28 The duck consisted of one small duck leg and a white bean casserole with one breakfast sausage link cut up into pieces. The duck tasted like turkey and obviously farm raised. The white bean casserole, which took up the majority of the dish, tasted like refried beans out of a can and the sausage had an overbearing oregano/thyme taste. Service was very good and the atmosphere was nice. Probably won't go again based on that meal and my wife's opinion of the her Herb Crusted Salmon dish.
Shrimp was not fresh. Lobster salad mediocre. Cacktail sauce bad. Service great.
Pretty much my ideal setting for a romantic dinner. Beautiful boats just steps away in a charming wharf pocket of Newport. I had the risotto and it was very spicy (hence the 4 stars). The menu is simple, slightly expensive and overall delicious, I'm sure. But this restaurant is all about the experience, really. You can't ask for a better place to enjoy a meal.
22 Bowen s is a fantastic restaurant set on the water in Bowen s Wharf. The food was amazing and our server Zach was brilliant - he was attentive, noticed the little things, and so helpful! We had such an enjoyable experience here. Our table was lovely, the upper deck is beautiful and the manager and staff were all wonderful to us! Thank you!
Yum! That's about all one can say about to the eats here. The upstairs bar has excellent ambiance with top notch service. Don't skip dessert!
Having drinks at the bar. The old fashioneds are not good. It's what you'd expect at a night club when you ask for one. I don't even think he used bitters. And using Crushed ice
Excellent, fancy restaurant.
But it is loud and don't go there if you are in a rush.
The outdoor seating is pretty. I prefer sitting outdoors upstairs. The view is better.
Main dishes are grilled fish and steak. Fish is $28 and steaks are $40s. Vegetables are $8 extra. They also have some dishes as a full "meal" including veggies and starch for mid &30s.
I had the rib veal chop. Excellent. Grilled salmon also excellent. For veggies try the ratatouille and asparagus.
Good selection of beers nice wine list. They even have Comtesse de Lalande on the list.
We were expecting more and unfortunately the food was tough and late to the table by 40 minutes
You must eat here. Great food, excellent atmosphere, friendly and attentive service. Also great views of the wharf. I had the 3 lb lobster, expensive but so worth it. Love this place. Try it you wont regret it.
Great food, great service, but it comes at a cost. Still worth it.
Set the scene: it was post season on a cool-to-coldish day with a cutting breeze. The outdoor area has no service this time of year. Oh, and we have a Golden retriever with us. Still the place was accommodating. The female hostess let us sit at the outside tables and get our food and drinks "to go". Good micro and wine selection.
One of my favorite restaurants in Newport. My wife and I eat here at least once a month and always take our familes here when they visit from out of town. Food is always good and the service is exceptional. Always recommend 22 Bowen s to clients, family and friends.
The food was great and it provided excellent view of the boats
First class ,super fresh seafood the service was great and let me say exceptionally clean in these covid 19 times prices are above average but we'll worth it ,I would highly recomend this fine dining establishment in Newport RI.
This is hands-down not only the best restaurant in Newport but the best restaurant I ve ever been to in my entire life and I ve traveled the world. I currently live in Texas but group in Connecticut and I have no problem getting on a plane just to fly into New England so I can have lunch and dinner at Bowens 22 every day for as long as I m in Newport. I ve done it before and I ll do it again.
Great ambiance and Amazing food. Steaks are prepared perfectly. Was disappointed in the Lobster Man and Cheese. I felt like the cheese was an after thought.
When visiting Newport, RI there's no better place to go! Always a wonderful dining experience!
Surprisingly good. I was expecting a tourist trap, but found it to be appealing to locals. Good cocktails and atmosphere.
Excellent meal and service! Filet and Clam Chowder, the best!
My two sisters have had food poisoning here before, and they don't have a burger on their dinner menu
It's been quite some time since I had last enjoyed an excellent steak at a restaurant. I ordered a 10 oz fillet, cooked medium-rare. It was served with green beans and mashed potatoes, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. My insistence to grill my own perfect steak, at home has been 'disrupted.' Also, the service was good, friendly, professional. A very good experience all round!
Dinned with a party of ten. Manny, our server was great and the food was delicious. Excellent, would recommend it highly.
Food was amazing, service with Manny was absolutely top notch and relaxed.
Clean. Attentive staff on a busy lunch hour. Great food. Consistent. I enjoy watching the kitchen staff hustling. I like when i can see where my food is coming from.
Excellent fresh local food, superior service. It's a few extra bucks but it's so worth it. Great place to go and enjoy a truly wonderful meal.
Wow, wow, wow!! My wife and I ate here over a year ago and decided to have our rehearsal dinner here. The food is outstanding and the setting is beautiful. It is on the more expensive end, but highly recommend for a nice special occasion meal that will be remembered for a long time!
On a weekend jaunt to Newport with my wife and wanted to find a romantic dinner location. Couldn't have done any better than 22 Bowens. The food was outstanding! We shared a lobster cocktail which was deliciously fresh with 22 Bowens fantastic cocktail sauce on the side. We also shared the scallop appetizer which was extremely flavorful and perfectly prepared. For our meals, we had a deliciously and perfectly prepared filet and seafood papardelle pasta dish. The sides are large enough to split among several people and we shared a baked potato. The wine list and cocktail menu had everything you could imagine from a fine restaurant. One of our personal favorites is the 22 Bowens Doli. If you're in Newport and want a great dining experience, make a reservation at 22 Bowens. It's also nice that they validate your parking in the Moorings parking lot.
Dinner was excellent, Manny our waiter was outstanding. Chowder, shrimp and lobster cocktails fresh and tasty. Both steaks arrived hot and done to order. Cream brulee was great. Will be back!
Delicious good and a great atmosphere. Our waitress was wondering.
Had the duck and the seafood pasta and both were really good. Had to get a late reservation for dinner but we were seated right on time. Plus there is a bar to hang out.
Wonderful ambiance! Great food! Go with the bone in Delmonico. A true Newport treasure
A complete dining experience, from the food, to the friendly waitstaff, especially Gianpaulo!!! He made our evening Fabuloso
Always excellent food nice drinks and great service
I have found happiness, find Manny who has a history with Newport and experience a top notch dinner with a 5 star staff!
I've been to 22 Bowen's twice now and both times have been super impressed by the quality of the service and food. It's at a beautiful location and although it's been busy both times I've been there, there's still plenty of room to move around -- it's not cramped at all and it's not too loud.
In the middle of a sea of tourists, a small island of class where they know how to pour a drink and cook a steak....
Call and asked if they had baked stuffed shrimp, they said they didn't but offered to make us some. Amazing customer service.
Steak was amazing!! Awesome service. Well worth the money!
Awesome steak quality and preparation. Always enjoy this place when I'm in the area. Try the Foie gras to start off your meal!
Really great service from our server, Paulina. It was so relaxing and great people watching from the balcony. Food and bubbles were perfect.
Excellent food and service. Great location with views
Average food, customer service disaster. Loud place, expensive prices and at best average food. Worst customer service I ve experienced in a long time.
Great service and wine and beer selections! The meals very mediocre. The oysters very delicious. Ordered the lobster salad on brioche. It was on the drier side and the bun was very blah. The Cole slaw was on the drier side too. The steak was mediocre as well.
