Amazing food and excellent service. Annual Christmas tradition.
Amazing food and excellent service. Annual Christmas tradition.
Great food! Great Service! Beautiful views! All comes with a hefty price tag though.
The food was excellent. Went during Newport restaurant week and took advantage of the pre fix menu. Me and my girlfriend chose not to order and alcohol during this night and the second our waiter knew this he went from attentive and friendly to downright rude. The dessert took nearly 30 minutes to come out and at that point we wanted to just leave. But everything prior to that last course was so good that this place still deserves 4 stars.
Nice shopping and restaurants easy walking along the pier.
I've been here a couple of times about a year apart and both experiences were good. Good food and it's reasonably priced considering the neighborhood. Sit outside if the weather is nice, great people watching on the dock.
Staff was great however my husband and I got sick that evening. The only item we shared, was the tuna appetizer. This was not the first time eating here, however it may be a bit before returning.
We were also not informed of the parking validation and the attendant would not use our recept as proof of dining...not happy!
The food is very well made. Enjoyed everything we ordered. Went home with a happy full stomach.
It s a classic harbor side tavern, rich in texture and tradition; a place with sophisticated charm, defined by its casual elegance, indulgent food, classic drinks and warm, genuine hospitality. Step into the past and the present and be part of the scene at the City by the Sea s premier waterfront dining destination.
Pretentious, overpriced lunchtime food and the service was slow as molasses. My cobb salad was edible if not particularly tastey, but my husband could barely get through half of his club.
Best in the area, wide variety of menu items and pricing. Truffle Fries were amazing...
This place is awesome.. went here for dinner with family and friends. Had a couple bottles of La Crema wine and split the porter house steak with my husband. The meat melted in my mouth. It was so tender. We had several sauses for the steak that was out of this world. The side plates are family style to share and the bread was served warm. The wait staff was excellent and very efficient. The manager stopped by to see if every thing went well. The only thing I didn't get to have was dessert. I was too full maybe next time.
My second time coming here. Went there for lunch. Had a Clam Chowder which was amazing! And a Chicken Milanese also great. Our server was super friendly and funny. Service was great. Definitely coming many times more.
Very pricey and food was mediocre at best. I wouldn't go back.
Not the best of restaurants. The food is decent. The bill was 123 dollars! For 4 people with small dishes. The crusting of the fish was very salty. Terrible restaurant, and it's quite stuffy.
A little overpriced but the food was delicious. Service was great which is always an added bonus.
We went to 22 Bowen s Wine Bar & Grille last weekend and were delighted by the food, ambiance, and service. It s situated in a fantastic spot on Bowen s Wharf to enjoy the Newport sunshine, sea breeze, and people-watching from the patio. Every course was excellent. I started with the oysters of the day (Walrus & Carpenter) and they were all bright, clean, and fresh. For lunch, I got the hot buttered lobster roll which served on a perfectly griddled roll. If someone in your party likes lobster, they should really get this, because it truly was *superb.* Everyone enjoyed their meal from the classic burger to the BBQ chicken flatbread. Of note, are their fantastic beer-battered onion rings which you should absolutely order as side or swap out for fries because they are a show-stopper.
They only lost a star because of table bussing hiccup. When I was taking a break from my lobster roll, I became mildly annoyed when two different table bussers came up to me in a span of what felt no more than two minutes to ask if I was done. I appreciate that they were trying to do a good job, and I expect there was some miscommunication, but I felt like I was being rushed out as a result. Perhaps this could be fixed by assigning one busser instead of two to a section of tables? Compared to everything else it was a minor service blip; especially because our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout lunch. The food is truly excellent, and we are all looking forward to returning again over the summer.
P.S. If you are worried about a wait, they take reservations on OpenTable!
Good service. A little pricy but serves prime beef. Hereford cattle. Steak was a little over cooked for what was ordered
Love their poached lobster roll... great place, great atmosphere and great service!
Great spot for lunch if you'd like to avoid the dinner crowd.
Excellent steak and duck. Mixed side salad was also excellent. Service was top notch. We will be back.
Food was great , waiters knowledge about wine and best dishes was impeccable. Will return every time I am in Newport.
Great, romantic dinner. Defiantly a dress up kind of date night. Not cheap, but what good quality meal is. Right down town in the heart of Newport. As a local I can say it is one of the top 3 places to eat in the city hands dow
Amazing food and service. The energy here is wonderful. I would highly recommend it for lunch, dinner it a private party. Must stop by if you are in Newport.
Absolutely wonderful!! Great location, courteous staff. Food and Service were outstanding!!
We love this space, we had our rehearsal dinner here 9 years ago and the food, atmosphere and service still does not disappoint. Our server this time was Michael and he was the best we have ever had. Highly recommend sitting upstairs in the new patio space that is heated. Great view!
The food is very well done, and the atmosphere is good. Keep in mind it can be pricey, but it's probably worth it :)
This place was perfect for lunch. We had sandwiches that were tasty and reasonably priced. The atmosphere was great and the wait staff made sure we were well taken care of.
Pretty atmosphere. Unfortunately entree came really late and pasta were not cooked...
Horrible management, toxic environment, and an unsanitary kitchen area do NOT dine here.
I can't say enough about the staff, interior, and the food at this beautifully situated restaurant. My fiance and I came for a celebratory dinner where they absolutely knocked the whole experience out of the park! We ended up going back for lunch the following two days to enjoy more.
Not kid friendly at all and very rude. We left before we even ordered because we felt unwelcome.
Not as good as it used to be. Dry fish and indifferent service.
Very cool place. Old house with outside seating overlooking the water. The service was really great. The appetizers, including the tuna poke was soooooo yunmy
What can I say? I've never eaten a better meal. The service was personal, friendly, well-educated and well-trained, and the food and wine were absolutely delicious. I ordered the filet mignon dinner plate, which was absolutely scrumptious. In hindsight, I enjoyed my girlfriend's sirloin steak better, although I wasn't sure as I don't eat a lot of steak regularly. We were there on a quiet night in early winter, and we took our sweet time ordering and eating everything - I'd imagine in the summer time it's a bit more crowded, harder to get a table, etc. Wonderful experience and, if you've got it to splurge, worth the money.
This review is for 22 Portside, which is an additional outdoor bar and seating area next to and affiliated with 22 Bowen.
No reservations, first come first serve. All other restaurants told us a wait of 90-120 minutes (including 22 Bowen) on a beautiful Sunday, July 2 evening. We were told about 1 hour here, which was on the money. Standing room only around the bar, easily got drinks, eventually sat down at a "high-top" bar rail along the port side of the area. We could have eaten there, but wanted a table and knew we were about to be seated.
Service was prompt and excellent. We split lobster Mac and cheese for an app, then had lobster roll and 12oz sirloin {medium) with bordelaise sauce and mashed potatoes.
Everything was excellent. Only issue with the lobster roll was the bun. It was toasted but came cool, and was a lot of bread.
We had a glass of wine and beer before dinner, then another glass of wine and scotch neat for dinner. No dessert. Total bill with tip (20%) came to $167.
Would definitely go back.
Excellent food and quality service. a couple bottles of La Crema wine to go with the steak. Highly recommended! this restaurant is right on the Bowen wharf.
This restaurant has a very high level of class. If you're looking for a fancy meal around Rhode Island, this is the place to go!
lovely place with multiple floors and eating area, we ate on a deck that was covered as it was drizzling today....service was excellent, food very good, calamari was great, steak bruschetta excellent and the lamb burger good, often they are dry and this was, so very good for the food, service and ambience...
Great service, food, and location right near the bay! Wait staff was very professional and courteous. Calamari, lobster roll, po boy, and lamb burger were delicious and fries were hot. Reasonably priced for the quality. Great for family lunch on vacation! Highly recommend
Outside bar in the summer is awesome! Great for cocktaiks, full menu and lots of people watching.
Wonderful menu. Had the scallops, aged steak, mushroom and asparagus sides. Oysters. All were well prepared and tasty. Nothing was overcooked and sauces were great compliments.
One of the nicest places to go in Newport for dinner always great service. Interesting people and very accommodating
Nice Restaurant with outdoor seating that has good views.
We tried the 2 pound Lobster, Polenta Starter, Tuna Tartare, Lobster Mac&Chesse, Swordfish Sandwich - All items were really good.
The Staff is very helpful (thnx Jack for accommodating us at the last minute)
Phenominal starters, meals and desserts...waut staff are very personable and attentive! Absolutely sealed our vacation! Definitely on the menu for next year's vacation!
Food was amazing. The service was awful, going as two 20 year olds we were ignored by the waitress the entire time. They clearly were being agist against us assuming we wouldn't be leaving a good tip because we weren't as old as all of the other customers. I do not reccomend this place for younger people as they are not friendly when they don't think you will be leaving a good tip. We asked for bread multiple times and the waitress made eye contact and just ignored us for roughly 45 minutes.
A higher class of restaurant, be prepared to shell out some cash to eat here, but it is usually worth it. It can be hit or miss with larger groups.
Unique menu choices. We tried bone marrow. It's a gotta try at least once. I'll try again
Great location! Great service by the host and our waiter! We ordered the Prime Burger and Cheese steak. The burger was simply the best burger I've tasted in a long time. The bun was soft and toasted perfectly. The burger was cooked exactly as I ordered- medium and was bursting with subtle smoky flavors and filled with juicy goodness. Our waiter wore a mask and was very friendly and respectful of our space while providing great service.
Fantastic place for fresh seafood. The portions are actually bigger than I expected too. Very good for the price.
Rustic port town bar and restaurant. Exactly what you want in New England
Had the raw bar platter and tuna tar tar. The oysters were very tiny compared to many other places. The rest of the platter was delicious and the tuna was my favorite dish. The drinks are well made. We sat outside in their outdoor var area. Great people watching spot. This fills up quick so you might need to wait for a while to find a table or sit at the bar. Definitely will be back!
I can't say anything bad about our experience but at the same time I wasn't blown away with my dish, the Swordfish (it was a tad dry). The service was good, not overly friendly but that was fine, the food and drinks were delivered quickly and efficiently. Overall, if you want slightly expensive middle of the road seafood this place fits the bill.
Generous sized portions. DELICIOUS choices. amazing location. great and nice wait staff. Highly recommended and will definitely go back.
Our go to spot for a good sit down meal or even a couple cocktails at the bar in Newport. Can't say I have ever had a bad meal and service is top notch.
Excellent food but extremely expensive. Anniversary dinner location for average person.
Great food, amazing view. Definitely recommend 22 Bowen's to anyone visiting Newport.
visited summer 2020
This is a pretty typical semi-upscale marina restaurant. The food is a little expensive, but everything seemed high quality and tasty. The staff was attentive and friendly. They have all the usual seafood dishes, plus a few unique items. This place is a little nicer than other restaurants around, but nothing special. Would go again.
An ok menu, not a large selection. No vegan choices, just one vegetarian dish.
Extremely pleased with this restaurant. Trendy atmosphere. Food was prepared just perfectly. Tracy our server was friendly, funny and attentive. Love that this restaurant is right on the Bowen wharf. Great view from our table on the upper deck. I rate this visit an A++. Definitely try this restaurant its worth a visit!
Upscale food drinks lovely staff very nice place had a great time
The fish was cooked superbly, overall food satisfied. The atmosphere is pleasant. The waiter was polite and quick.
Excellent food every visit. Beautiful patios outside. Service could be faster.
Best seafood we eat here, my fav go to for food in Newport.
