Michael Lasher Review of Veterinary Referral and Critic...

Wanted to give 4 stars as they appear to have addressed their receptionist/compassionate care issues, but really this is more a 3-star review. My major take away is that they seem fine for acute injury but not so good at more complicated pathology.
Ended up making two trips in nearly 12 hours over the weekend, was not surprised it took a few hours due to bloodwork during the busy day shift, but had to go back around midnight and still ended up staying around three hours when there was no one else there after about 12:30/1:00 AM. My primary goal was to make sure my dog was stable until I could get her to our regular vet, and they did that.
However, their diagnosis was VERY wrong. Given my dog's recent medical history I advised of my concern, and some how they went down a path of what seemed to be what they expected (despite repeatedly saying it didn't make sense). At first we generally agreed to watchful waiting, which I was okay with, but during the second trip the recommendation was essentially to double-down (actually more like quadruple-down) on the wrong diagnosis (again, provided history of last 36 hours and informed of my concerns about the earlier diagnosis) and almost recommended a very expensive and unnecessary (even if they were right, according to our family's vet, who previously was an er vet) treatment plan. Again we agreed to watchful waiting with some wound care; however, the bandage they did was a little too thorough, my dog was crying in pain all night long (and running around fine after replaced with some gauze and a little vetrap 12 hours later).
The next morning I got into my normal vet, who indeed confirmed my hypothesis. I am not going to assume they recommended a costly treatment for the money, like some people do.
As a healthcare provider myself, this was a good reminder to consider what the patient might suspect is the issue.
