Extremely disappointed with our experience here this past weekend. Being Calgary residents we decided to treat ourselves to a Saturday night stay here as we had an event to attend at the BMO. Valets were extremely friendly, staff at checkin were fantastic - that is why I give any stars at all. We booked just a basic room, but given the price and the location I think I expected a bit more - the room was very run down, stains in the carpet, drip marks and stains and gouges all over the walls, the bathroom door was a barn door style that didn't close all the way. The fan in our room sounded like a jet plane taking off so we had to fiddle a LOT with the thermostat. The fan in the bathroom was tied to the light and wouldn't turn off so getting ready with any communication was a challenge. The door to our shower wouldn't close all the way, leaving a gap of over a foot meant water all over the floor we had to waste towels mopping up. The walls in the rooms are paper thin - we could hear every laugh, toilet flush and yell in the rooms next to us. We returned from our event about 11pm, hoping to order some room service and relax together on our mini vacay but instead got to enjoy wall shaking bass as a private event on the first floor meant our second floor room suffered - we called the front desk to ask if that was truly the case, hoping it was a mistake, but I was very curtly informed this is the balance with the hotel hosting private events and that it would be done at 1am... I am not exaggerating, the walls in our room shook, if I had been living in an apartment we would have called the cops on our neighbours for a noise level like that, but apparently when you are a paying customer of a hotel, you just have to deal. We actually debated checking out then and there, we would have had we not had a few adult beverages at our event. Night ruined, we just went to bed when the noise stopped, only to be woken up bright and early as the paper thin walls struck again, but just after 8:30 we could hear house keeping knocking on doors, so we just got up, packed and left. Checkout staff were friendly enough, but we didn't get asked how we enjoyed our stay, or get any conversation really... We tried to get into the Yellow Door to salvage our stay with a delicious brunch, but there was no room (fair enough). The hostess sent us to 10 Foot Henry, as she insisted we would enjoy that, we walked over to discover it didn't open until 11... so that topped our morning and we got in the car and drove right home. Never again will I stay at this location.
