Essex House is an iconic landmark on Central Park ...

Essex House is an iconic landmark on Central Park which has been an operating hotel for generations. It is a destination property unto itself which means it s very busy. The rooms have been recently renovated as of April 2018 but there are still reminders that this is a very old building. The elevators are quite small but there are several of them. The main complaint I would have is that the windows are not soundproof whatsoever and if you re on a lower floor you ll definitely hear the traffic from Central Park South or the various noises from the back or sides depending upon your location. Scoring a room on a higher floor would definitely help with this. The food in the Executive Club lounge is plentiful and very good as you would expect at a JW. What impressed me the most was the bed. It was the single most comfortable bed I ve ever slept in and I want one for home. The mattress, pillows and linens were all perfect. It was so comfortable that I spent half of Saturday in bed reading and napping. The towels were also top notch. Housekeeping and all the services I experienced were all 5 star and I definitely look forward to my next visit.
