Rebecca Beidel Review of Buttermilk Falls Inn & Spa

My husband and I just came back from the most wonderful 3 day getaway at Buttermilk. We found the place to be charming with a laid back vibe which put us at ease. The friendly staff offered us help and recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area, which are plenty.
We stayed in the Juniper room, which I recommend. It was lovely but comfy. The bed was so comfortable, I never wanted to leave it. It was a very private room even though it was in the house, with a little porch and it's own exit to the outside. From the porch you can see the most beautiful sunrises over the Hudson River. The breakfasts were delicious and very creative. The teas were perfect in the afternoon as we didn't need any other food until a late dinner.
The only small glitch in our time there was that we had called ahead to make a reservation at the restaurant on the grounds. When we got there that evening, they asked us if we had a reservation, (which we did), but then asked us where we wanted to sit (clearly not having reserved a table for us). We asked to be seated by the window. There appeared to be one table available there. We were told that that table was reserved for someone with a reservation. Since we had made a reservation, we were confused about why they had no table for us and wouldn't give us the reserved table. We ended up going somewhere else and having a wonderful time. It was probably just an oversight. It looked like a better place for lunch than a romantic dinner, which is what we had wanted that evening anyway.
We had a lovely, romantic time there, even though it was too cold and snowy for us to really explore the grounds. Guess we'll have to go back to see the gardens another time!
