Veterans discount admission was 16.75. It was a fairly busy day, but i was able to find parking bc a sleet storm cleared some families out. Parking was free.
The zoo is on the side of a the mountain and is laid out in layers sort of like going up a switchback trails. its all ADA, but pushing a wheel chair or hauling a wagon up to the top would be daunting. you can pay a shuttle fee of 2$ to be carted from area to area, i imagine its worth it if you have trouble getting around. I got there around noon so i was hungry and quickly realized it was a field trip day, so i sat myself at the pizza place after i overheard a chaperone saying they were leaving at 1. the view is nice and they serve beer but you cant leave the premises with it. They werent very busy but the 10 inch pizza took a full half hour and was similar to chuck e cheese, way over priced (15$) and not worth the wait (pic), and when i tried to customize my pizza i was met with strange apprehension and redirection from the clerk, so i just kept it simple. Maybe next time ill try Grizzly Grill if its not overrun by disruptive and unattended school kids. anyhow, the exhibits are fairly nice and i really liked most of the interpretive panels. I didnt catch any keeper talks, but they have a schedule availble on the website. It only took me about 1.5 hrs to get thru the whole zoo and see most* everything. Lots of stuff is under construction and i think the new exhibits will be really nice, so ill probably return when they are completed. The primate house had good viewing but has a very distinct and strong odor. You can feed the giraffes which is pretty neat. Overall its an ok little zoo.
