Made the drive down from Dallas this weekend to purchase my dream car, a slightly used Acura RDX. Before heading out, I confirmed with an employee about the condition of the car; no scratches/dents/damage/repainted parts. After seeing half a dozen of these cars, I've come across a few that had clean CarFax reports but obviously had damage. The way I see it, if the car is damaged at all, it's just the tip of the iceberg with problems, unacceptable, especially if I'm planning on spending upwards of $30k...

After the ~3 hour drive, we made it to the dealership. While the dealership itself is nice, clean and huge; they really boast about the complimentary coffee bar. There was more emphasis on the coffee bar and the dealership as a whole than the car I went to go see... It was very odd.

Upon seeing the car, it was VERY obviously damaged. The whole passenger side was scraped up, a paint chip in the door, lots of little scratches on the front & back of the car, a weird stain on the side mirror and even overspray paint drips on the back bumper. You could tell that the last owner also backed in to something sharp or dragged something sharp in to the truck as that area was visibly damaged. So I was extremely disappointed, I had been lied to! Not only was the car damaged, it was repainted. I specifically asked about those EXACT things! It makes me think they didn't even look at the car at all before getting me to make the 400+ roundtrip journey.

Even during my test drive, we experienced issues; we found the sunroof wouldn't close, it got stuck. After a dozen times of trying, it finally fully shut but I couldn't help anxiously thinking I would be screwed if it started raining.

We would have taken the car had they lowered the price to compensate for blatantly being lied to about the condition of the car and the cost to fix these issues but they didn't budge. It was such a waste of time. They went on to say, their stress free, no haggle price is based on an honest and up front attitude, which is complete BS because the situation I found myself in was most definitely not honest or up front.

Note: The sticky sunroof could easily become an issue where it won't close and ends up ruining the electronics in the car. The paint chip could spread due to high speed and eventually rust.
