If I could give Vivint more than 5 stars, I would....

If I could give Vivint more than 5 stars, I would. My experience with them, their equipment, their installation, and support has been nothing but perfect.

I started my search for a home security system about 6 months ago, and went with the Frontpoint security system. Luckily they had a 30-day money back return policy. I had troubles from day one with my overhead garage door sensor, where the panel would say the door was closed (which it was) but the phone app would say it was open. This would only happen occasionally and would be super frustrating, as I would have to return home and check the door. After hours upon hours on the phone with tech support, new sensors, multiple new panels, extending my 30-day return policy to 90-days in order to get more time to fix the problem, I finally gave up. The only good thing about Frontpoint I can say is that they honored the return policy in full, and their support staff is friendly. Their equipment, panel, and app was very problematic, and the panel was very outdated, looking like it came out of the 80s.

On the hunt for a new security system, it came down to ADT and Vivint. Filled out the forms on both websites to contact me for a quote. ADT said they would contact me within 24-48 hours, and THEY NEVER EVEN DID THAT. I couldn't imagine how they treat customers locked into a contract considering that they treat potential customers that poorly. Filled out the form on Vivint, had a phone call within a minute.

I told them about the problems I had with the overhead garage door sensor with Frontpoint and was worried about the 3-day return policy with Vivint, as sometimes it takes more time for those little gremlins to show up. No problem they said, we will give you a 30-day cancellation period.

I was lucky in calling Vivint at a good time, they were running a promotion that included PROFESSIONAL installation and activation for $99. The installation service tech showed up on a Friday and couldn't be friendlier or more professional. He REALLY had to work to get the panel mounted where I wanted it. It was in a tough location with the way the studs were located between the wall, and I'm thinking most techs would have gave up after 30 minutes or never even would have tried to give the effort and told me to pick somewhere else. After an hour of fighting, he finally got it. I was super impressed. After a few hours the system was all installed, ready to go. He trained me on the equipment and panel and I was in business.

I have had ZERO issues with any of the equipment or the phone app. My garage door sensor has not given me an incorrect indication once. It's so easy to bypass sensors and set the system exactly how you want it. For example, I like to leave my patio door open when I leave for work to let some air in. Hit the arm button, it tells me the patio door is open and asks if i would like to bypass that sensor, I hit the bypass button and the system arms with everything active, except the patio door. So now I am protected by the motion sensor in that area if someone were to come in through the screen door, but can leave the patio door open for the air. It's beyond awesome.

App has full history too so I can go back and look what time I left the house on a certain day or what time I got up to get a drink of water the night before.

And the system does work when you trip an alarm, TRUST ME on that. Opened a door one morning before I disarmed the system, and the buzzers and the 2-way communication were going off before I could reach the panel to turn it off.

Again, this system works amazing and I couldn't ask for it to be any better. Just FYI I do not have any of the surveillance or door unlocking equipment. Only window and door sensors, motion sensors, glass break sensors, fire/smoke sensors, and overhead garage door sensor.
