I'll never buy a car here again. I purchased a new vehicle at Smithtown Toyota in 2018. It was a couple of years old at that point, but unused. I was told that it was being sold as a new vehicle, and was assured, in writing, by the salesperson that it would have all of the bells and whistles that a brand spanking new vehicle would including Toyota Care (no cost factory recommended service for 2 years or 25k miles, whichever comes first) and warranty. The first time I went in to take advantage of my free Toyota Care oil change, I was told I had to pay because someone had entered a note in the computer saying that my vehicle was excluded from the Toyota Care program. After spending valuable time providing documentation that this was not the case, and, to the contrary I was guaranteed Toyota Care in writing, I was reimbursed. Next time I went in for inspection and oil change within the time frame during which I should have been covered I was told, yet again, that I would be charged because there was a "note in the computer" stating that my car was some special exception. The person with whom I interacted at the service desk had to ask a manager to, ahem, waive the fee. When I contacted Lauren, the customer service manager, she said that I should make all appointments directly through her in the future and mention the problems that I continue to have. She's pleasant and helpful, but this place is managed sloppily (can you take the bloody note out of the computer please?) at best and seems to condone lies at worst. I guess Toyota might be glad to hear that I just paid for an oil change somewhere else even though I still have a couple of months left to get free ones. I hate going here so much that I'd rather pay someone else to do it than listen to another tale of some clandestine note in their computer. The bad news is that I'll make sure to let my friends, family, and colleagues know that they are better off getting a vehicle elsewhere.
