PROS- This place is gorgeous on the outside...beautiful history and great ammenities with lots of activities. The staff is friendly although if one were to compare it to a Mexico resort (which is the only other resort I've stayed at, Mexico blows it away)

CONS- when I'm paying 300+ a night for a room, I don't expect to be nickel and dimed for EVERYTHING...WIFI isn't even included. the SPA packages come with a service fee after...and it's hefty.Crafting during the day as an activity on a rainy day- cost money. A horse carriage right- 30 minutes through the woods is ridiculously overpriced although the guide was fantastic. What I'm the most disappointed about is the cost of this hotel vs. it's condition. There is duct tape on the carpet, only one elevator works, my rooms mattress was a cliff from edge to middle -- it was so worn, the arm of my chair had a hole in it, the roof of the spa is falling through the ceiling, the front porch has a roof with a hole, a very visible hole, the AC in the room has a thermostat that doesnt work- we were told it's only an off or on function (I would never bring my infant or small toddler for this reason alone- we went to bed at 76 degrees and woke up below 60 every night. I went out and bought a hoodie and sweatpants), gutters are falling apart- hard not to see since my view was the AC units and the back of the building. The mineral baths are a fantastic draw to this resort- but unless you spend Xalot of dollars in the SPA you arent allowed access to them

OVERALL- Omni took over the hotel in past several years. All I have to say is that they have a lot of work to do before I'd consider spending this kind of money here again. While I appreciate the history and was excited to be experiencing the history, the cost doesnt match the experience for me.
