Service department doesn't listen and takes way to...

Service department doesn't listen and takes way to long to (mis)diagnose the issue. I already did the research and tell the tech what needs to be done or the most likely cause of the problem. In two different instances they don't listen.

In one case on my 2007 Honda Odyssey they failed to fix the problem which was clearly stated online: air mix motor on driver side failing and needing replace - a fairly common reported item online. When failing it causes a clicking\scratching noise. Instead the Honda (dis)service technician claimed an A/C recharge would fix it. I'm not upset that the unit failed after years of usage... I'm upset by failure of the technician to list and address the correct problem which is commonly reported. I later described the issue to a local auto service company. They correctly diagnosed and fixed the issue... the air mix motor, or whatever it's called. It's an actuator under the dashboard. There's one on each side. The driver side one was failing. It is located up and to right of the gas pedal. See image posted below

In another case with my 2004 Honda Civic they sold me a set of tires that had issues about 1.5 years later causing a pull to the right. At first I thought it was an alignment issue and had Les Schwab check it out. They reported it wasn't alignment but a tire defect (tire conicity or similar). Granted, it was a manufacturer issue but I was not pleased with the Honda response. The tire was no longer built or wasn't in stock and I should buy a new set with a $16-18 credit for current tires. I believe original price was ~$80 per tire. Relatively low amount of mileage and wear since install. Plus, it takes Honda service 4+ hours to get back to me on what might be wrong.. even though I already told them the issue. (and called for status update).

If I'd bought the tires from someone like Les Schwab, they'd have done a better job in less time.

I started comparing pricing between Honda and local auto repair, often finding Honda service pricing 15% higher or more.

Avoid the hassle. There are several good auto repair places nearby that do a better job in my view... and that are more responsive, communicative, and better priced
