Took my fiance here for a weekend getaway. We've had family and friends that raved about this place so we decided to give it a try. Overall it just seemed like no one cared that we were there. The staff was practically asleep the whole time and had a hard time listening. I would highly not recommend coming here during the winter because the building still sports the 250 year old windows (in the tower) and it cannot handle the request of the thermostat at 70*. The mattresses are so worn in you can't escape the crevasse that each hotel guest has aided in creating. Pillows are of airplane liner quality. For a 4-star hotel, room service is lackluster at best - they simply bring it in throw you the check and they don't bother pulling the food out of the warming cart. I asked for a turn down service one evening and to please bring up new towels and firmer pillows while we were at dinner. I came back to a room with a 2 new pillows that were even softer than the ones, a bed not made and no towels in sight. I was expecting great food during a meal, but was met with a piece of Salmon served skin up on a side dish (didn't even fit on the plate) and a confused waitress/bartender that didn't know how to prepare a glass of Vodka with a splash of cranberry (I was met with a lemon drop martini and then a side oz. of cranberry so I could mix my own drink). Oh and I can't forget about the $9.95 - $14.95 daily internet charge... The year is 2017 and Mcdonalds give us free WiFi, but a 4-star hotel can't fulfill that request. I hate to project such a negative impression of the place, but I'm a pretty simple person to be pleased. All I ask is when I spent money on perceived value, I want to be provided said value and it was just exhausting to deal with this place.
