Stopped by Salt s today, a normal favourite spot right on the beach in Penticton, it was still a good visit, with some happy hour drinks and food. The visit was fairly usual, and the experience was at the level I would expect for a Monday afternoon, good but not fantastic. Especially with all the precautions they have in place with everything going on. However, not all severs/staff were following these guidelines, the bartender upstairs didn t have a face mask on for most of our stay. While we were enjoying our afternoon, it appeared that two off duty staff showed up for some drinks, which caused the servers to hang out and talk with them. Which left us needing service as we wanted a second drink.
While we were sitting there, a supervisor, I think he was, joined his friends at the bar to finish his cash out and tips, while grabbing himself a beer from behind the bar. While the girls hung out in the kitchen and behind the bar, talking and on their phones.
Finally, the bartender, Michayla I believe her name was, came back and was able to get us some more drinks before we left, as we were planning on leaving sooner since we felt ignored.
The food and drinks were as expected, but the service was not. I felt the staff carried themselves in a very unprofessional manner, as the level staff now needed to maintain the guidelines set by the provincial health officials seemed to impede and drastically changed the service I am used to at Salty s. I was quite disappointed with my experience today.
I hope the owner addresses this issue and can better manage their team.
