I stayed here with my wife and young child for two...

I stayed here with my wife and young child for two nights this past May and thought the place was great when we entered. We got in late because we had just made a 12-hour trip from Virginia and I dropped off my car with the valet. Check-in was smooth and we were glad that the room was clean and nice when we arrived. We enjoyed the central location of the hotel as we explored the city. It wasn't until check-out that the Kinzie wasn't as great as we had hoped.

On the morning of the day we checked out, we got our bill and it was about $120 more than I expected. We hadn't ordered room service or movies or anything like that, so I examined the bill to discover that parking was $60/day. That was the first I had heard of the prices for parking. I complained to the front desk who assured me that a manager would call me back. I never got the call. I did, however, notice that the parking stub did have prices indicated on it, which pricing was conveniently covered by the thumb of the valet upon arrival. I also noticed that the parking prices were indicated at the entrance in opaque lettering to the side of the entrance, such that you wouldn't notice them unless you were really looking for them. So, yes, they do indicate pricing, but nobody is going to notice it unless you are looking very closely. Someone should have told us of the pricing before we received our bill. I don't like being surprised when I receive a bill and I don't like it when staff fails to return a call. Either way, I wouldn't recommend that people stay here, especially considering the fact that they may even charge you if you don't park the car (as read from another review), which seems to indicate that Kinzie is playing some kind of hide-the-ball game with parking.
