One star. Would have been no stars but Google won't allow it. Piss poor service from John Lewis Oxford Street today. Called customer service to ask about replacing a product bought at JL. It was outside their 1 year guarantee but inside the manufacturer's lifetime guarantee. Customer service said I should just take it in with the receipt and they would replace it anyway. When I went in they refused because it was outside the JL guarantee period, despite what they said on the telephone. They offered to refund half the original price, presumably so they could get a replacement free from the manufacturer. They had the product on the shelf for twice the original price, which would mean a profit of 300% to John Lewis out of my defective goods, and it would cost me four times the refund to replace the product, plus the waste of my time. Not what I expected from John Lewis, or from a lifetime guarantee. And so rude with it.
