The Homestead was a huge disappointment! While impressive from afar, it didn't take long to see the hotel was in disrepair- chipped paint, rotten wood, leaking ceilings, stained and dirty rugs and upholstery, out of order elevator, and broken games in arcade. The worst part was the worn out guest room in the "newer section", which smelled of urine. We immediately asked to switch rooms and were told no. They sent a dehumidifier instead. Even the hotel workers agreed it smelled of urine in the room. We couldn't even open the french doors to air out the room because the handle was broken off. And they over charge for everything- $10/day for parking, $6 for bottled water provided in guest rooms, $8 for a bottled beer, "mineral fee" added to meal checks, etc. It's more like an amusement park than a nice resort- crowded, long lines, high prices, crying kids, not a single chair available at the pool by 10:30am on a Saturday. We will not return and are puzzled by its reputation.
