Samantha Fetzner Review of BMW of Devon
Back in February I found a car at this dealership ...
Back in February I found a car at this dealership online. Due to the fact we live far away, we negotiated over the phone. The salesman, Greg, was pleasant and polite. We agreed on a price and I made the arrangements to get the car (over 820 miles away) 2 weeks later. I was very pleased with the car itself and not upset over price etc. To be honest it was only the 3rd car I ever bought independently - the prior of which being 11.5 years before- and I had never done an out of state transfer before, so I went in less prepared than I should have been. Weather was a factor in some of the challenges due to time of year (1st weekend in March) and we were in a bit of a hurry to get on the road headed home. I left the dealership without having ever touched the title to the car. I realized this on Sunday so I called Monday when trying to get my paperwork sorted out with the DMV and got the run around for days. I was told- and can show via email- the dealership would be handling the title/transfer etc. Then told via email not even a phone call several hours later they made a mistake and would not be handling it. I then had to push- hard- to get my paperwork sent speedily to me so I could register the car within the constraints of my home state- IL - because they had put temp tags on the car 2 weeks before I picked it up. IL only gives you 30 days to title/register the car. My paperwork finally came to me on Saturday- 7 days later- and left me with exactly 1 hour to get to and in/out of the DMV. That was handled very poorly and was a nightmare. Then there was a question regarding what I was told was a paint protection package (& interior) - Zurich Shield- that I paid $695 for but we were unsure was applied- we got several opinions after some concerns and ultimately the dealership wound up causing paint damage to the car with their washing techniques and sealing the swirls beneath a cheap spray coating I now have to pay $600 to get paint correction done to fix the damage to the paint. And they refused to do anything to make it right. We even contacted Zurich Shield and they said once the paperwork is filed with their company (wasn't done until weeks after the car left their lot) they have no recourse- only the dealership can refund. If the Zurich Shield got refunded and voided to help undo the damage done by poor cleaning of the car, I would easily give a 3 maybe even 4 out of 5- just because of all the things that were poorly handled with my paperwork and the sidestepping by staff afterwards. But I do give them credit for negotiating easily before picking up the car and being personable to speak to. But it seems they don't care once they have your money.
