I was excited that a boat was available and agreed to rent Dockside's last boat for a 4 hour session the afternoon of 8/6/13. I asked the cashier if it would be ok for me to run to the delli down the street to pick up a couple sandwiches and take the boat in 15-20 minutes. She said that would be fine. I asked if there was any chance I would lose the rental and she assured me it would not be a problem. I then offered to leave a deposit to make sure and she said it was not necessary. When I left the office the owner asked if I made a decision I let him know I would rent it for the 4 hrs and was going next door to pick up a couple sandwiches and would be back in 15 minutes. After returning in 15 minutes I noticed customers getting into the boat. I was promptly informed by the owner that he was sorry and that the boat was rented right after you left. I replied that I was told by the cashier that the boat would be held for me and that I offered to leave a deposit. His response was "you need to take the boat when you pay for it." I have been vacationing in Lake George for over 50 years with my family and have never encountered customer service like this. Dockside lost our trust and all future business.
