Many of the people working here are great caring people who are doing a fantastic job. But I can't give it more than 3 stars for a couple reason. One problem is unless you are the patient it is extremely difficult to talk to a Doctor. The Doctor makes his rounds before visiting hours start, so even if you have time to sit in the room all day long you are never going to see him. But when I checked my Mother in Dr Colon gave me his card with his voice mail phone number if I had any questions. That sounded great! Except when I called that number about a week later I found the number had been disconnected. Nobody I talked to at the hospital seemed to care that the number had been disconnected . I even left a voice message for the Director of Quality on the phone number issue and he never even responded. What kind of quality control is that? So to talk to the Dr I had to call the main hospital number . They asked me what I wanted before they would transfer the call, after they determined they would allow me to try to talk to a Doctor they transferred me to nurse. Again I had to repeat my story and convince a nurse that should be allowed to ask the Doctor a question. Then all the nurse could do is to give the Doctor a message with my question. The Doctor never called me back, a P.A. named Lilly called me back and gave me incorrect information. The Doctor could have given me the correct info, but I guess he was to busy to spend 5 minutes on the phone with low level person like me. The second issue I have with the place is that as they approach the end of the time period that Medicare likes to pay pay for they decide patient is suddenly cured and can go home. On the first day they wrote a goal in the wall for my Mother to get out of bed on her own and walk, just like she could before her surgery. She certainly did not reach that goal, but they did not appeal to Medicare that a 86 year old woman might need a little more rehab time than a typical patient. They just discharged her and hoped that "Home Health" could finish the job with visits a couple of times a week. Even though they had not accomplished it working with her everyday. To summarize If I could have talked to a doctor when I wanted to and if they had kept my Mother another week until she reached her "goal" I would have given them a 6 star rating.
