To order parts, know your year/make/model/trim, engine type/size, manual/auto, awd/fwd and etc. Or just grab your registration and insurance from the glove box to show the VIN. Even if you think it's a generic part, let the parts guys check their catalog to confirm. Don't act all macho like you know what's generic and what's not.
Unless, you're a grumpy old lady whose pre 1986 car is not in the catalog and parts are mostly NLA... If you can't handle having to provide your VIN when you already looked up the part numbers, you should order online. Human contact is not for you. Go home and feed your grumpy old lady cats.
