Anthony Mussara Review of Rocking Horse Ranch Resort

This was my second trip to Rocking Horse Ranch. It's a little pricy, even in the off-season season. However most of what you pay for is well worth the money. It's not a far ride from the NYC area- about an hour and a half. The location is beautiful, not far from New Paltz. Mountains surround the resort. When you check in, you basically park you car right outside the lobby. Check in was fast, but even if your room is not ready you can hang out in their beautiful lounge area, grab a bit to eat, and play in the arcade downstairs. The resort is specifically designed for the children in the family. The indoor pool accommodates children from toddler age to early teens. There is a specific area of the pool that is strictly for toddlers- with small slides and water fountain tables. There same area has the entrance to an indoor water side that actually extends outside of the building. There is also an outdoor pool and water slides for summer months. There are too many activities to list, no matter what the season. Some of those activities include: dry tubing, skiing, rock climbing, a bungie jumping ride, paddle boats, an indoor kids area with a ball cannon battle field and jumping castle, horse back riding, and various other activities. The food is top-notch. Breakfast and lunch are buffet style, and dinner is menu-style. Although most of everything is all-inclusive, alcohol costs extra- and is quite expensive. The rooms are nicely decorated for a ranch. I would suggest getting a second floor room, since the floors are quite creaky and you can hear the foot steps of the people above you. The staff was over-friendly and they will bend over backwards to meet every accommodation. Overall it is a great family vacation.
