I had to go out to Seattle on business for 2 full weeks being 14 days. Being as my companies parent company is Amazon, The hotel offered free parking for the rental car and free breakfast for each day of stay at the Emerald Grill which is owned and operated by Holiday Inn and is next door to the Hotel.
The Room I stayed in was pretty nice and very spacious, The room was stocked with bath and body works products which is far better than some hotels products. The staff were all very friendly, There was some difficulties in getting my stay arranged but it turns out this was on the travel group we used, not the hotel itself. The staff worked with me on getting those early issues resolved and I had a very pleasant stay and was always greeted with smiles whether coming or going I felt good each day of my stay.
The Emerald Grill mentioned previously had an equally pleasant staff. My first night there while waiting for the aforementioned issues to be resolved, I stopped in for something to eat and the bartender and one of the ladies whom worked the hotels front desk were both a pleasure to talk to. While eating the amazing Gargonzola Blue Cheese Burger and steak fries I had ordered I also tried a few IPA craft beers they had on tap while gathering as much information I could from both employees about places to eat, places to see, etc, etc...
To add to all this the breakfast every morning was amazing! Just be warned, the breakfast is not free unless your company is partnered with them. Regardless I recommend the breakfast as its not cheap food nor ingredients. Everything was quality.
The reason we chose this hotel initially was its location. I could Uber to and from work quickly and easily especially because of the newly constructed 2.5 mile, 1.4 billion dollar tunnel that runs under the city. The hotel was walking distance to many restaurants, space needle, Pop culture museum and the list goes on. And because I hike alot I found no issues walking further distances.. on days that I felt tired I would walk as far as my feet would carry me than uber back..Theres also free shuttle busses, wish I had learned of this sooner but it is what it is..If you walk to the space needle you can find a billboard nearby for free shuttle bussea.. the shuttle will take you to pikes market, the waterfront, chinatown, centurylink field.. theres other shuttles that go other places from the waterfront. So one could essentially get around with minimal walking for free.
But wait theres more.. Seattle has alot to see and do and never enough time to do it all in. If there for multiple days and you have a clear sky dont just go up in the needle, take an uber to Kerry Park which is a little strip of park in a beautiful neighborhood on top of a hillside, It is from here that you get THE Quintessential View of the Space Needle, The City Skyline and on a clear day My Ranier off in the distance South. Yes Mt Raniers 2.5 hrs away but can be seen from Kerry Park and a few other places downtown. You can also see the Olympic Mountains which are equally dar awat to the west. The View from Kerry Park is tough to beat.
All in all I enjoyed working in Seattle, I worked hard but I also played hard and took it all in. I cannot praise this Holiday Inn enough because I also enjoyed what I call basecamp. And this basecamp is easy to get away from and get back to. Theres a nice park to stroll through southeast of the hotel and its nice, that leads to Wholefoods which I frequented for good eats and other essentials.
