This camp was the WORST place I have ever worked at. I worked at their riding program (Cedar Creek/Saddle Champs) and I have never seen horses in worse shape. Tack was ill fitting and always dirty, which causes severe pain and injuries. The horses were skinny, sick, injured, and overworked. They were fed mouldy hay because the owners are too cheap to provide proper food. Mouldy hay can cause digestive and respiratory problems, which many of the horses had. The head-staff refused to call the vet or farrier. The horses were worked all day, everyday and most did not have access to water despite the heat and requests from staff. Head-staff would often skip feeding the horses and kick the horses and ponies. Many of the other farm animals didn't get fed because farm staff always forgot and were never punished for it. Staff were overworked and underpaid, I received $2.85 an hour. I only stayed because I felt responsible for helping these horses and ended up bringing in my own supplies to help them. SPCA was contacted multiple times but they could not seize the horses because there were too many (30). As a result of being payed so little staff would get frustrated and yell at the children. One of the head-staff would swear and express how much she hated kids right in front of the children. Certain staff members would do drugs before and during camp and talk about it near the children. Horses were falling to the ground while kids were on them on them because their feet were in so much pain but they were forced to keep working. Bathrooms were unsanitary and never cleaned once. Hand washing stations were often left without soap and as a result staff were always getting sick and coming to work sick. Their policy states that if you miss three consecutive days you get fired or if you miss three separate days you lose half your pay, because of this everyone kept coming to work. I will never come back here and the only reason people do work here is because there are no other jobs available. I can't imagine why anyone would want to send their kids here. When children asked what was wrong with the horses I would honestly tell them in hopes that their parents would voice their concerns. This camp is just a terrible place for animals and staff.
