I went to buy a used car on 6 May 2013. First I had to risk life and limb to cross a busy street to get to the lot. That is nothing they can change however. I was in search of a cheaper used vehicle for a friend of mine. We found a beat up honda on the lot that looked like it would be close to dirt cheap so we took a look at it further. The salesman told us that it had been there since Saturday. The vehicle had just been detailed and cleaned so we could see the problems with dents and scratches. The driver side door had been pried open by a burglar sometime in its lifetime and it left the top of the door open by close to an inch. It was also obviously involved in an accident that they repaired somewhat. New engine parts but not suspension. The test drive was interesting to say the least. The interior was full of cigarrette burns and smelled like skunk. The wheels were jacked up as well as the steering. The steering wheel shook violently at anything above 10 MPH and pulled hard to the right. Braking made the shaking even worse. We didnt even get a mile from the lot before I insisted on putting the car back in the lot. During the U-turn I could tell that the CV joints were screaming in pain and something in the rear was clanking. Rays Chevrolet wanted 7,000.00 dollars for this vehicle. If you wanted to take the chance with this thing I would not advise this car for more than 1000.00 with tax, title and license after the CV joint replacement. We then found out that this was an internet advertisment vehicle. So they get you to the lot and let you take that honda on a test drive and then make you think the next vehicle is gold because its not as bad as this honda was. I left angry and talked to them about another car. The Salesman told us that it had only been there since saturday and it was as is warranty. So I asked if everything was put on the lot last saturday. The dust on it alone indicated that it had been there longer than saturday, and it too was a mess of problems. The salesman was making jokes about these vehicles like it was cool. The gap in the door was for ventilation and also provided a beverage location during the rain. Maybe he was trying to build raport by making jokes but that car was unsafe and ridiculous. Plus he was on the phone speaking spanish with a boss from the lot. News flash I speak spanish and no youre not going to get that car off the lot. Out of morbid curiosity we looked into the second car and I didnt get a warm feeling about how we were going to be treated on the next car so we told the guy to fix himself and get that car off the lot. I am now doing my job and making sure everyone on the internet is aware of this crap.
