We booked a room online for April 8th at the Sheraton in Des Moines, IA. We ended up finding a better room at a nearby hotel. We called the Sheraton to cancel our reservation the next day and were told that there was no record of a reservation for us. We never received a confirmation email at any time. We went on vacation, came home, and stayed the night at the other hotel on the night of April 8th. Needless to say, we received a charge for $211 for the room at the Sheraton the next day. We called and left messages five times before being called back by the Accounting department. We were told that they would run it by the GM to see if a refund was able to be issued. Two days later we received a phone call that we wouldn t be getting a refund with NO reason given. We asked the representative Why ? She proceeded to begin giggling inappropriately and stated, because my GM said no . This inappropriate giggling and condescending tone continued throughout the call. She stated that they did NOT have record of a confirmation email, but still refused to refund us our money. This hotel is DISHONEST and UNETHICAL. I will never stay at a Sheraton or a hotel associated with their parent company ever again. I ve filed a dispute with my credit card and will likely not have to pay for the room in the end, but the completely disrespectful, unhelpful, and condescending service we received will not be forgotten. I advise anyone thinking about renting a room at the Sheraton to BEWARE. Very sketchy customer service. Check your bill twice if you unfortunately decide to stay here.
