Kelly Anderson Review of Peak View Behavioral Health

It has taken me seven long emotional months to be able to write this review regarding the devastating negative treatment I received at Peakview. The staff blatantly lied on several different occasions regarding the treatment of myself and other patients.
1. I had to go without my glasses for 7 days because a nurse said I had deliberately broke them to cut my wrist and then threw them at her. I asked several staff members to look for my glasses and they all said they could not be found. Finally one week later I asked a new nurse that I had not seen before to look for my glasses, he reached under the counter and pulled out five pairs of glasses including mine. There was no damage whatsoever.
2. A family member brought a a large bag of clean clothes including under clothes and shoes, when I asked for these items I was told they could not find anything that belonged to me. Therefore I was not given any of these items until the day I left. When I was finally discharged I noticed there were several personal items missing from my bag, I was told that I was mistaken. These items that were stolen while I was a patient have never been returned to me. Noone has been held accountable for the theft.
3. I became very ill due to being over sedated with medications that I was intolerant to. I begged the doctors and nurses to call my regular Physician regarding the medications they were giving me. They refused. They had made me so physically and emotionally ill that the day after I was finally discharged I was rushed to the ER by ambulance due to the effects of being over-medicated. I had to stay in the hospital to detox off of all the medications I had been forced to take at Peakview. I was told that the amount and combination of medications that I was given could have caused long-term or permanent damage.
4. The only therapy that I ever received was from the music therapist. I never saw a psychiatrist or a therapist the whole time I was there. They fed me, over medicated me and sat me in front of the TV or sent me to my room. They mocked and laughed at me when I begged for relief with pain. I had severe diarrhea that caused a very painful rash, I had to beg for a creme to help with the pain so I could sleep. They would not give me an ice pack so I had to ask for a cup of ice water and sneak the ice in a sock and use it for an ice pack. I started having uncontrollable body shakes and my legs became very weak causing me to fall to the floor, I was actually told that I was faking it by the unconcerned staff. Instead of taking care of their patients the staff would discuss personal matters while on duty, where all the patients could hear them talking and laughing.
This facility is a very dangerous place. The staff is very unprofessional, incompassionate and unconcerned with the well-being of their patients. My stay at this facility was definitely more harmful than helpful.
