So, you may gauge who is writing this review, let me start by saying I m a fairly particular critic, but not overly so. I live in a major US city and go out of my way to find good restaurants and highly value excellent service. I was very on the fence about booking this property because of the mixed reviews, but I have young children and thought it was a good low-key option. With little kids half the food ends up on me during dinner, so I figured what the heck . Generally, the reviews are on-point and I d consider this a hard 3-star experience. The location is objectively very nice, no issues there. The service was the most overwhelmingly inconsistent and generally poor aspect of the trip. Some people were very nice, but in other instances I was quite shocked at how poor it was. For breakfast for example, I came done with my two very small children and the staff saw me standing there and didn t even acknowledge me, almost staring right through me. I had to get my own highchair for my son, while a waiter watch me drag it from behind the divider. Lunch was a similar experience. To be fair and on the positive side, many of the staff were very nice, but one always tends to remember the poor experiences versus the good. I d say 35% of wait staff were very unfriendly, almost to the point of it being awkward. The rooms themselves were just OK. The furniture was aging, there were some noticeable cracks in the drywall, ding and dents but overall, they were fine and meet my expectations based on the reviews and pictures. The property itself again, was fine, just not great. Some of the vegetation along the paths and in the beds was overgrown, some buildings could use a little painting and TLC you just didn t get the feeling this was a meticulously managed property. But again, set expectations on 3-star just OK and you ll be fine. And, I do hate to repeat, but the food was again just OK their al a carte service was very good, and the wait staff for dinner were consistently very nice (their A-team if you will), but the food was nothing to write-home about. It was satisfactory, but certainly not good, mostly bland again very consistent with a 3-star experience. Overall, it met my expectations, because I set them rather low; but I m looking for more on vacation, and this just didn t fit the bill I won t be returning and opting for something a bit more special next time. Your money will go much further on another island or even another property on T&C.
