Since I live nearby, I only visit this hotel, because it has THE most BEAUTIFUL lounge area I've ever seen in LA. Comfortable sofas, an elegant decor, a super wonderful band (The Left Over Cuties-with stand up bass play a modern take on 30's and 40's style music.) The windows are floor to ceiling and over look one of the most beautiful beaches in southern California. It is on the expensive side, but the interior design makes it worth it...I came for New Years after lunch on the Santa Monica Pier (great Mexican food). For dessert and tea we came to Casa del Mar for it's fantastic view. Tonight I am going to HAPPY HOUR with friends (4-6 p.m.) I recommend this lovely hotel to all my guests...just bring $$$. P.S. Myfriend tells me the drinks are STRONG! (perhaps too strong) just FYI.
