Banana Island is beautiful, the resort itself cannot be faulted. I would have loved to give 5 stars, but the customer service was truly lacking unfortunately. I went as part of a group, paid money just like everyone else, however over time if felt more and more like we were the poor relatives. We waited 2hr 35mins for our room, and the only reason why I got my room was because I went to reception, where there was an already irate man also complaining and I refused to leave without my room key. I had to stand my ground and stay in reception to receive my key. As other customers were helped with their baggage to their rooms , no offer of assistance, by the service manager!!
I hired three bikes at 25QR each, the tyres were flat and we had to go back, no apology! As we cycled the chain came of one of the bikes and we had to walk it back, we were on the far side of the island and it was hot!! Again no apology of any kind, 75QR down the drain.
Iftar dinner was lovely, however, another lack of customer service. We had booked a table (which we were advised to do) when we arrived at the restaurant only to be told that only Muslim people were to eat first and everyone else had to wait. One of the members of our group was Muslim, but obviously didn t look like the Qatari Muslims and I had 2 young children, who were fatigued and hungry. We sat and waited for 45 minutes. I was so disappointed with the service we were offered and the lack of respect from some of the staff and lack of compassion.
