Taufiq Hosen Review of Mercure Hotel Zwolle
I have been coming to Zwolle for work for years. I...
I have been coming to Zwolle for work for years. I have tried several hotels, but for now have also tried the Mercure once because of its practical location (not in the center), where I can also quickly access the highway.
However, I did not have such a pleasant experience and I will NOT come back here to stay overnight because of the following:
In my room I was bothered by a deep hum and a light shaking. I walked into the hall and heard it there too. Then asked other hotel guests in the hallway if they heard it in their room and that turned out to be the case.
When I looked out my window I thought I saw generators or fans attached to the building. I thought it wouldn't bother me, but when I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't sleep anymore, it was clear to me never to come back here. I was also on the top floor let alone if I had a room downstairs next to the generators / fans. The noise and vibration is comparable to the neighbor's washing machine! Personally, I think that is really not possible in a hotel where you pay, apart from all the service and conveniences, to simply be able to spend the night in peace.
I will omit the pluses because they are nothing like this, because you come for your night's rest. Regardless of what you are going to pay for your room, there is a good chance that you will suffer from this because it comes from outside. Unfortunately, the architect of the building did not think this through!
Once reporting the problem to the bali, the front desk clerk and the "concierge" said; Oh yes that is the air conditioning which is attached to the top of the building. Yes it is an old building with a wooden roof. I will look into it if there is indeed a problem. "Receptionist then indicates that she cannot do anything about it and then says goodbye. So in addition to the fact that the building is not properly laid out, it was also not tidy for the reception employee to dismiss me like that.
It seems to me that the hotel has known about this for some time given the previous reviews. So the problem is known and nothing is being done about it to date. That is why I sincerely recommend the Vandervalk, Lumens and the slightly more expensive Wientjes in Zwolle for (business) overnight stays. For worse overnight stays, I recommend the Campanile and now also the Mercure!
Greeting,
