I have rated this before so today will be an update. I will list items and how they rate - food: meals are cooked daily and while portions and sodium content may not be best, it is a hot meal and is filling. Sleeping outdoors - with the cold humid nights it is an excellent environment to have your lungs become congested as you sleep, can't do nothing about it, ur us what it is. Restrooms and Showers - I must admit the bathrooms and Showers have been bearable. You don't enter and immediately begin to dry heave. In 90 day period I smelled urine twice. Great improvement! Now as far as helping people, I see the members side has helped, but the common complaint is members are treated as inmates. This is an institution so it is to be expected . Where there is no help, one need only look at the mentally ill, drug addicts, and alcoholics. Their illness precludes them from seeking help and their aggressive behavior keeps them out of programs which may help. A catch-22 for the most needy. Haven for Hope is a great idea and for a certain genre of homeless it works. My question is what will the City do when all the work is completed at Via Centro what will happen to homeless. They are housed right in the middle of a district that Via wants to build up. What will be this outcome?
