Stevens pass is a great ski resort in close proximity to Seattle. Travel time is usually between an hour and a half to 2 to get there. Plenty of challenging runs from beginner to intermediate skiers. They also have plenty of programs aimed at beginners so its pretty affordable if you are committed to learning the sport. Hands down the biggest downside of Stevens is its size. The parking lots can fill up quickly on Snow days leading to a disappointing return trip. The last snow day, all the lots were full with parking attendents not letting anyone else in. Drove around for about an hour, then tucked tail and went home. Best way to avoid being in the same scenario is to get there early. The area is well maintained and clean as it can be considering the foot traffic coming in and out of the property.
