Beccky Chally Review of St. Johns Seafood and Steak
Food, Service and Manager are all horrible. I mad...
Food, Service and Manager are all horrible. I made the huge mistake of recommending this place for a night out with friends that were visiting from out of town. I have been a couple of times previously and the service has never been good, but the view of the water is pretty. The view happens to be the only decent thing about this restaurant. My good friend ordered a Wedge salad expecting the normal chunk of crispy iceberg lettuce, but instead got a huge chunk of romaine lettuce that looked like it had just been pulled out of the ground. She ended up sending that back and was very polite about it. She ordered the Salmon and received a piece of completely under cooked Salmon. My friend told us that this was actually her first time sending something back, but both items really did look disgusting and were inedible. The manager proceeded to come and sit down at our table with us (which I thought was very unusual) and questioned my friend about the reasons that the items were sent back. I think that is the first time I have ever witnessed a manager questioning the customer about why something was sent back. At first he actually refused to comp the items and also told her that she needed to pay $8 for the 3 tiny pieces of steak that she had eaten off of the salad. The manager was really quite rude so naturally our entire table of friends started to get upset. We were all spending quite a bit of money on food and alcohol, so the fact that he was treating us this was was appalling. After going back and forth with him for a while (again my friend was very polite the whole time and I probably got way more angry than her), he finally agreed to comp the items and offered us a free dessert. At this point, we were ready to leave after being treated so badly and just asked for our checks. Another point to add is that the server rarely came to check on us. I think she visited our table of 7 people maybe a total of 3 times during the 2 hours that we were there. I will never go back again and actually felt very embarrassed that this was my recommendation to guests that were visiting from out of town. There are so many great places in Downtown Sanford and Lake Mary and we ended up having the worst dining experience that any of us have ever had.
