As much as we love Key Lime Cove, I am sad to report that this visit has us concerned. We've been here many, many times over the past several years, and have almost always been impressed by the quality of the service, staff, rooms, and the upkeep/maintenance of the property itself. When we inquired last night about where our favorite bartender we always look forward to saying hello to was, were told by an employee that the hotel has changed management, and that a "large number" of things were different. We could see that for ourselves, unfortunately. The lifeguard staff is the part that is most concerning, since they were so amazing before. On this trip we have encountered no less than 3 outrageously rude guards, 2 who appeared to be afraid of getting splashed, and more than I could count who were just bored and uninterested. I have not seen a single "check test" this whole weekend. There's an awful lot of rust on beams all over the water park....also not what we're used to seeing. This morning my husband went to the 24-hour shop for an item and found the door locked. The sign said to knock or find a "smiling employee" if that happened, and he saw someone inside, so he knocked. The lady inside the shop was disgruntled and nearly bit his head off when she reluctantly let him in. What in the world is going on?? Our room is fine but you can just see signs of wear and less attention all over the place. Spills/stains that could easily be removed, worn linens, scuffed/scratched doors...I don't know who the new management is, but I'm worried a place we really love is going to just be let to go downhill. Its expensive to stay here! The expectation is that the price you pay ensures a safe, satisfying trip.
