My husband and I joined the Balanced Habits kickst...

My husband and I joined the Balanced Habits kickstart program in January at the suggestion of our daughter, Libby, who is a trainer at LUX personal training.

This program of combining a meal plan of balanced protein/carb/healthy fat units with an exercise plan was the best possible experience for us!

The program is easy to follow, and truly helps you create a balance in life. The food on the program is real food, and we found that we enjoyed shopping together and preparing recipes that were both healthy and delicious. It was a great experience for us as a couple, we began to work out together as a more structured part of our lives and we are each other's support and motivation, although Libby is always just a text or call away. She offered great suggestions for our workouts and advise on our meals.

The benefits for me were immediate. I was diagnosed about 10 years ago with adult onset, type II diabetes, which I have struggled to control with diet and an ever increasing amount of medication. From the first meal of the first day of the Balanced Habits kickstart, I saw a normal blood sugar reading and have had ONLY normal readings the entire time on the program. This has not been possible with anything else I tried! Plus....I am eating CARBS! I was just never able to enjoy carbs without blood sugar spikes. The balance of the meals- protein/carb/healthy fat is what is making all the difference. There is really nothing I cannot have now. The most important thing that I do have? CONTROL! For the first time in 10 years. I am eating real food....including carbs....AND I am in control of my blood sugar and need less medication! Take that, DIABETES!

We were also able to attend some of the sessions through LUX. I was a participant in a group training session and my husband joined a burn session. Great workouts! Great trainers! Beautiful private gym!

Even though we live in New Jersey and were "remote participants", we always felt included as part of the kickstart program through the private facebook page LUX created for the program. And our results were amazing! My huband lost 20 lbs and I lost 18 in 28 days! I came back to Lux for my final weigh in and the group training session and was thrilled to see such a fantastic loss. Balanced habits was not just a 28 day program for us. It was the start of a lifestyle change that includes better nutrition, better health and a much more balanced life!

We are still living a life of Balanced Habits, still losing weight and I am still enjoying perfect blood sugar readings! Balanced habits is now our way of life! We signed up to receive Balanced Habits recipes every month and are enjoying the new choices and fun ideas for meals. That keeps it all interesting although there is plenty of variety in the meal plan anyway.

I am grateful to Jose for allowing us to be included in this lifechanging program that is helping me get where I want to be with my weight and even more importantly, my health. I am healthier than I have been in a decade and I feel the difference! We both look better and feel better and couldn't be more grateful to Libby for the suggestion and Jose and LUX for the opportunity to find and achieve some balance! Thank you!
