Indira Gandhi International Airport has changed a lot. Lot of services available. It becomes beautiful in terms of looks and facilities.
But few things you will have to keep in mind while boarding, long q for getting boarding pass and checkin. E boarding pass is not valid. Even if you have web check-in, same problem. Q for both baggage drop and check in is mostly the same. Advisable atleast you will have to spend 1 hour at check in counter. Some time it can be two hours also. Then large line at immigration counters during peak hours + security check.
If you want to travel domestic and it is upto 500 kms., It is advisable to go by car if the roads are good.
No time wasting 5 - 6 hours for one hour travel.
