Review of Red Lion Hotels

Normally I don't write reviews, much less negative reviews. But here is a hotel that promotes remodeled rooms and restful nights. Sorry, none of that occurred for me. The remodel consisted of pulling out the old furniture and flooring, installing new flooring, and then putting back in the old furniture. As far as I can tell the walls were not freshly painted, the bathroom still had tile from the 1980's or so (which had mold in places), and the furnishings (also from the 1980's) were in disrepair. The website promotes a minimalist room (not that I spent much time in the room) and that was true as there wasn't a chair to sit in besides the desk chair. And don't get me started on the curtains. This was not a good remodel. Worst of all the stay was NOT restful. My room was engulfed in the sounds from the main lobby. The music from the "live stage" was at a volume that I could clearly hear in my fourth floor room until 10 at night aind anyone (kids playing on the new main floor furniture, other guests, maybe a few drunks from the bar on the main floor) were loud and voices echoed through the entire space and right into the room. Had I not been here for a conference I would have found another hotel. I almost did... I spoke to one person and I know there isn't anything they can do about the loud people, but they wouldn't turn the volume down on the live stage either. I won't stay here again.
