During my purchase of a 2012 Passat, I was very disappointed with the finance guy. Like all the rest, they persuade you to buy wear and tear. I have leased cars for over 20yrs and this was my first and last time purchasing wear and tear. He never went over the claims process you have to deal with when turning in your lease. I paid $720 for basic wear and tear for a 36 month lease and it would cover $5000 in damages. You are left with obtaining and sending all the inspection pics to the wear and tear company and responsible for filling out about 7-8 forms. The pics you receive from the inspection company were not good enough for the wear and tear company to analyze. I had minor acorn dents and a small scratch on the rear bumper. The wear and tear company covered $315 out of $1200. There is no fine print on the wear and tear contract to tell you the specifics and what the wear and tear company considers 1 instance of damage. Neither the dealership or Volkswagen Credit will help you at the end. Be very careful what you sign. You are better off paying for any wear and tear out of your own pocket. Will never buy a VW again thanks to this dealership.
