Our 99-year-old mother was admitted to the orthopedics department after a hip fall and fracture. After consultation with the orthopedist, it was decided to perform surgery. Before surgery, these patients are screened by the geriatric department. My sister and I were invited for an interview because of the deteriorating situation. We were allowed to watch our mother's room outside of visiting hours. The nursing staff regularly came to ask if we wanted something to drink.
Afterwards had a conversation with Dr. Chong Yie Man, geriatrician. Very sweet and competent doctor. She patiently explained to us what the options were and took more than her time. A very sweet person full of empathy. Despite the impending end of mother a very positive experience was left over.
