I read other reviews about Great Wolf Lodge before heading over so I was a little bit wary before I arrived. We decided to go on a Sunday and pay the lower rate and just head home instead of staying the night. It came to $190, which is still less than heading over to Great America with 4.5 people (the baby only half counts).

I was ready to be bombarded with other things they wanted to sell upon entering. But I was pleasantly surprised. The check in process was smooth and the staff was courteous. They even marked our wristbands (The adults could charge to the room. The kids could not.) After my kids (and myself) received our wolf ears (headbands) we were informed that our room was already ready.

So of course, our first stop was the waterpark after we changed into swim suits. There was a blocked off area so my 16 month old could wander around and play safely. The oldest kids ran free between the basketball pool and the wave pool.

Maybe it was because it was off season or because it was Sunday but there weren't many people there and we really got to enjoy everything at our leisure. We rode all of the slides with no waits and cruised the lazy river. Of course, there was the big kid who knocked my baby over while his mom just watched. But a well placed "mom stare" handled that.

Other than the staff looking so incredibly bored I wanted to hug the poor kids, every thing was wonderful. I think the pricing could be better. Some of the prices are beyond extravagant and we were shocked to learn there was only one restaurant open after the waterpark closed and it was pizza. My kids were ravenous and didn't care but I was sick of pizza!

Definitely a trip worth repeating! I wish we could have stayed longer but Monday morning was calling. All in all, we had a howling good time!
