I booked 1 deluxe double room here, and when I checked in, I was told there were 2 rooms booked in my name. When I explained to them this was a mistake in their booking system, I was treated rudely and argued with for about 15 minutes with 3 different staff before I was told I would be refunded. When I checked out of the Melrose the next day, I reminded the staff to please be sure my refund was handled, and I was told that it would be. 1 day later, and I have still have not been refunded for their mistake; but they have charged me for a third room. When I called the desk to straighten the matter out (for the third time in 2 days) I was treated rudely and put on hold multiple times, simply for inquiring my I had been charged for 2 extra rooms/+$500 falsely. When I stated that I would be forced to write a review (which I never do; this is sadly my first negative review ever.) reflecting my treatment at the Melrose, the front desk staff said, No, you won t, and hung up on me.
Bottom line; don t stay there. There are so many better places to stay in DC. The hotel is beautiful, but is is definitely not worth the terrible customer-service/overall rudeness from the front desk staff, not to mention the extra money they ll charge you because they can t/won t do their jobs correctly.
