I will start off by saying that the property is gorgeous. The only issue that we had was the treatment we received. We were here with a large group for a total of four days. We enjoyed the many amenities offered by the property. Most of the staff were extremely kind and courteous. However we did experience a few occasions where we were made to feel not welcome. The first incident was when we visited the pool. The young lady went around to each guest to ask them what they would like and skipped us. Eventually we moved from the jacuzzi area to the pool. We selected our lounge chairs and proceeded to swim. The young lady still had not acknowledged us. It started to rain. We rushed over to our area to put up the umbrella as our things were getting wet. The young lady finally came over to help but we had been there for quite some time and at this point we just took the interaction at face value. She finally asked what we wanted and we ordered and that was that. The next incident came the next day during afternoon tea. I made reservations in advance. We arrived about 10 minutes early. There was no direction on what to do or where to go so we chose seats we felt were appropriate. I realize our mistake so that is not the issue. The issue came when the hostess came over and told myself and the guest I was with was that the seats were reserved for the afternoon tea. She automatically assumed we did not belong there. I politely let the woman know that we had reservations. She let us know that they were not ready and asked that we sit elsewhere until they were ready. My guest and i waited for about five minutes, then the hostess came back and let us know that our seats were ready. She explained that seats were assigned. She asked if our parking needed to be validated and I again politely let her know that we were guests here. My friends have also experienced odd behavior from staff when they visited the shops. They were made to feel uncomfortable as they browsed because the sales person followed them around the store, they never acknowledged them or asked if they needed help just followed them around as if they were going to steal something. I say all this to say that it is very hurtful and disrespectful to treat people this way. It shouldn t matter what a person looks like or what their background is. The only race is the human race. We were guests at this resort and our experience has been soured. Since the tea we have just been in our room. We didn t want to have to deal with being treated as less than. We wanted to go to the spa and the steakhouse but if I won t be respected I don t feel like I should spend anymore of my money. We were even given a 200 room credit as apart of our package as this was sponsored by our employer and we won t be using the rest. Please address this with your staff and remember to treat everyone equally.
