We stopped in here before the train started running in early September, 2020. The yard was completely open and public, so we were able to walk around and see almost everything. The only thing that we couldn t access was the shop because they were currently working, getting things ready for trains to start running in a few days.

The depot was closed but the gift shop was open. The building itself is pristine and historically authentic. We were able to see a diesel engine shunting a few cars around in the yard.

The town of Chama does not have a lot going on, so don t expect too much. But for a train enthusiast, I would highly recommend you stop and walk around here.
