Very quaint place, and the the grounds are beautiful. The service is subpar and not the quality of other 5-star hotels and resorts such as the Ritz and the Umstead. Some of the employees are very friendly and others act as if they are going through the motions, with no care or sense of urgency. I will say, we received excellent, 5-star customer service from one of the resort Directors after voicing a couple of our frustrations. The Director took the time to seek us out personally to listen to our experiences/frustrations and actively worked to make our experience better. Overall, we had a good time but the experience didn't exceed our expectations as would be expected from a 5-star resort.
