In August of this year, I took members of my family to Israel, we chose to stay at the Sheraton in Tel Aviv as we were travelling with an eight year old who loved to swim in the ocean.

The Sheraton at my request arranged a private tour for us through Bein Harim of Jerusalem and the Dead Sea.

What a complete disaster the trip was and suffice to say we were left after the tour both angry and disappointed.

Our tour guide was a racist, he made several disparaging remarks about the Palestinians, refused to take us into the Muslim quarter in Jerusalem, his criticism of the occupied territories was again directed against his perceived enemy, and at one point he rolled down the window of the car and shouted at youth and seemed to think he was justified because they were Arabs

He drove like a maniac, took money from us to pay for the parking but pocketed it and did not pay the parking. He talked on the phone to his wife and generally spent most of the time in the car checking his phone.

He took us to tourist traps for lunch and shopping and in both places he received kick backs.

At the Dead Sea he disappeared and we spent twenty minutes trying to track him down.

We arrived back at the Sheraton quite late so I waited until the next morning and then laid a complaint with the manager at the Sheraton who agreed that I would not have to pay for the tour. I also discussed the situation with the front desk and I was satisfied that the matter had been dealt with.

When it was time to checkout of the hotel, much to my surprise I had been charged (discounted) for the tour. I refused to pay for my bill unless the charge was removed and agreed to discuss the issue further once I returned home.

Imagine my fury to discover that while I was on the plane, the Sheraton ran through the charge for the disputed tour and did this without my authorization.

I have tried to fight this with American Express but the Sheraton provided paperwork which included a fraudulent copy of my signature. According to American Express, I have to take legal action regarding this matter to prove the signature is not mine and was told to call the police.

I will never stay at a Sheraton again, I also highly recommend that no one ever uses the Bein Harim Tour company. If this review board is anything to go by it pretty apparent that Bein Harim and it's agent the Sheraton Tel Aviv do not care about customer service.

Shame on all of you involved.

UPDATE I stand by my review, the discounted charge was run through on my credit card with out permission or signature ( they do not have chip and pin ) Regardless what management has to say, what they did was unacceptable... Friends ask me about my trip to Israel and ask for recommendations!!! I tell them to steer clear of The Sheraton and Bein Harim!!!
