The front desk staff was friendly and helpful, but that's about as good as it got. It didn't feel anything like a "resort" other than the fact that it faced the lake.
The hallways were poorly lit, badly painted, and housed the same pieces of trash on the grounds from the time we checked in at 3 until when we left the following day at 10. Same goes for an abandoned housekeeping cart that stayed in the hallway the entire time.
The room was poorly painted with wall paint on the ceiling that made it look as though it wasn't properly done in the first place. The entertainment center that the TV sat on had an obviously broken door covering the refrigerator. The only thing updated even remotely recently was the bathroom sink, mirror, and bathtub surround. The showerhead nozzle was unscrewed and sprayed water everywhere.
There was no ice bucket in the room and the vending machines had no water available, but there was a Keurig in the room.
To top it off, 3 hours before checkout someone from the staff tried to enter the room. We had the security latch on, but that still didn't stop him from trying harder to get in. After opening the door the first time, then closing it after realizing it was latched, the person opened the door again and put their fingers through the door opening to try and push the latch off. When I said something while his fingers were in the doorway, he then closed the door and started scurrying down the hallway. I opened the door and his only response was "I'll come back later". I got in the shower 5 minutes later and someone tried again to get into the room, but the latch was still on and they left after trying to open the door the one time.
My wife asked about who it was/ what the purpose was upon checkout. The front desk agents tried hard to find out what happened- the effort was appreciated- but no one could figure out who would have tried to get in. Nothing was indicated on their logs.
My wife and I stayed there in hopes that it would be a great splurge for the final night of our honeymoon. Even after the 4 days of camping leading up to this stay, we would have rather camped again for the final night, or picked somewhere else where at least we known what we were going to get.
