I took my 2004 in to have the failing battery replaced and do a comprehensive evaluation just prior to selling my vehicle to a close relative. We have been the only owner of this vehicle and have used Beaverton Toyota exclusively to do the maintenance of this vehicle during the past 12 years. He reported initially some additional "engine noises" the vehicle was exhibiting. I told him to go ahead and do additional diagnostics on the vehicle (and approved an additional $110 to do so). He came back 48 hours later and said that there were no problems and that the noise was caused likely by soiled gloves installing timing belts last year, leaving them susceptible to additional dirt. Cleaning the belts eliminated the noise. Since the cause was traceable to their own technicians, no extra charge for diagnoses was due. We appreciate the attentiveness to diagnosis and ownership in solving this problem and thus not passing the extra labor on to us. It also gave me the confidence that this vehicle is in good condition and not likely to be a burden to my relative in the future.
