Edit to respond to dealership response:
You may find it hard to believe that there was nothing you had available that would fit our needs, but as the only other vehicle that was mentioned to us by the salesperson we worked with was more than twice our budget, it's fairly obvious there wasn't anything to meet our needs.

We were very disappointed by our experience with Rick Hendrick City Chevrolet. We live about two hours outside of Charlotte and had found a (used) vehicle we were interested in while looking online. We contacted the dealership and set up an appointment for a test drive. The gentleman we spoke with explained that someone was looking at the vehicle, but that if anything happened and it was sold, he would let us know so that we wouldn't have to waste our time driving to Charlotte for nothing. He also said that he would be out of the office today, but would make sure that we were well taken care of by someone else. So this morning, since we had not heard anything back from our contact, we drove to Charlotte. On the way down, we even called and spoke with someone about our appointment because we were running a bit behind. We were assured there was no problem and our time was changed. When we arrived at the dealership, the salesperson we were assigned to had no clue about why we were there. We had to wait while he spoke to someone else about the vehicle we were there to see, and when he came back, we were informed that the vehicle had been sold the night before and no one had taken the time to let us know. We were offered no apology and left the dealership. When we got back to our car, I logged into my email on my phone because I wanted to send a message to the person we had spoken to yesterday, just to let him know what had happened. Imagine my surprise to find an email that had been sent WHILE WE WERE ON OUR WAY from someone in customer service saying how excited they were that we were coming to see SPECIFIC VEHICLE and that she really hoped to meet us while we were there. So I decided to give her a call instead. She didn't answer so I left a voicemail stating what had happened, why she didn't get a chance to meet us, and that we didn't appreciate the lack of consideration we had been shown. I also left my phone number but have yet to hear back from her or anyone else. I find the lack of communication between departments, as well as the lack of consideration for our personal time, to be highly unprofessional. We definitely will not be back to this dealership and wanted to share our experience so that others may avoid these situations in the future.
